Players Championship Final
The Players Championship final is a PDC event contested between the top 32 players from that season’s Players Championship Order of Merit – a ranking system that only takes into account results from the non-televised Players Championship events on the PDC Pro Tour.
The event was established in 2009 and up until 2011 was played after the PDC World Championship in late January to early February. However, prior to the 2011 season, it was announced that the Players Championship Finals would be held at the beginning of December in order for the World Championships to signal the conclusion of the season.
Phil Taylor won the inaugural Players Championship Finals, the following year he was beaten by Paul Nicholson in the semi-final, before the Aussie went on to win the title, then in 2011 Taylor regained the title with a narrow win over Gary Anderson in the final.

Players Championship Finals Darts Betting
Players Championship betting is available for PDC Pro Tour events throughout the year. However, the range of markets for these events is not so diverse with usually only outright winners markets being available. This is largely because they are non-televised events that generate little Darts Betting interest.
But, when it comes to the Players Championship final itself all the usual betting markets become available. From the outright winner betting to whether there will be a nine-darter in the tournament, who will reach the final and betting without Phil Taylor. Each individual match market also has a wide range of Players Championship Finals betting markets covering everything from the outcome of the match to how many 180s will be hit and the highest checkout.
Players Championship History
The Players Championship Finals is a relatively new tournament that is at an embryonic stage of its development. At its original position in the calendar – late January – it struggled to gain much popularity from both the players and fans. So much so that the 2011 event was staged without an official sponsor or TV channel – it was aired via live streaming from bookmaker websites. Many saw the World Championships as the real end to the season and this tournament didn’t allow players to take an extended break from the game prior to the beginning of the Premier League. However, now that it has been moved to a more suitable position at the beginning of December it is hoped, and believed, that it will attain a greater status amongst those who play the game and, perhaps more importantly, those who watch it.
