Phil Taylor is the most successful player in the history of darts. The 51-year-old nicknamed ‘The Power’ has won 15 World Championship titles and over 150 professional tournaments during his illustrious career, including every televised PDC major on two or more occasions.
Taylor began his career in the BDO and won his first title there at the Canadian Open in 1988. He then went on to win his first Lakeside World Championship title in 1990 by beating Eric Bristow in the final, before losing to Dennis Priestley the following year and regaining his title in 1992 with a 6-5 win over Mike Gregory in the final.
When the PDC was formed in 1994 Taylor was one of the first players to pledge his allegiance to the new organisation. In the inaugural PDC World Championship Taylor lost out in the final, again to Dennis Priestley, but the defeat only spurred The Power onto greater things. From there on in Taylor dominated the game of darts winning the next eight consecutive PDC World Championships on his way to a total of 13 PDC titles between 1995 and 2010. Only once during that period, in 2008, did he not make it to the final of the tournament.
During his period of dominance, which continues to this day, Phil Taylor has also won 12 World Matchplay titles, nine World Grand Prix titles, five Premier Leagues and four UK Opens, amongst others.
There can be no doubt about it; Phil Taylor betting has proved more rewarding than betting on any other sportsman in the history of gambling.
